Our front porch needed a face lift - nothing like a little curb appeal! We replaced the stairs, railing and added the wraparound flower box. I still loved our blue front door with the grey and white, but we brightened it up by adding more white throughout. Here are the before and after photos:
I did not do a full step-by-step DIY guide, but you can see the progress of the front porch reno below. HERE WE GO!
First we dug up the dead trees and removed the stones.
Then we had to figure out how to cover this ugly cement block, which is where the wraparound flower box idea came into play.
Then came ripping off the lattice. I hate lattice - looks cheap and is impossible to paint. Sorry if you like lattice, we can agree to disagree.
Goodbye steps! We removed the steps and took these fun family photos :D
We then built the back of the wraparound flower box.
It fits! We also put round rock along the base - helpful for leveling and reduces wood rot.
Took it back to the "shop" and finished the box and panels.
Attached the box to the porch and added the flower bed - drill holes for drainage!
Put up the porch rails. We still need a handrail for the steps, but we were over the porch project by this point...
